It's been a little quiet on here this year. So, I have a topic I would like to have everyone's input on.

You know when you are in the middle of a race and going down a trail you have a little talk with yourself? Like a little self-motivational talk to keep you focused and moving?

I want to know what everybody tells themselves when they are riding.

My personal favorite as of late is: "I'm going to make this trail my B*T#H!!!"

I crack myself up as I'm riding along and getting bored and start telling myself all sorts of wierd stuff. Am I the only one that does this??

And yes DK, before you answer, I know I would not be bored if I was riding faster :P ;-)

I try not to think. I forget to breath which makes me tired. I tell my self that Mark Mcdonald is not going to pass me in this test section, and it sometimes works.

Amberlicious.....you need to focus on rhythem! Increase your rhythem. I am also a great proponent of "area appropriate" music.

For instance...ALWAYS listen to Bob Wills before riding Turkey.

Flow with the land. The Texas Two step....FASTER!

I always tell myself to quit riding like a girl...Hahaha

Then, if I need to calm down and control my breathing, I sing to myself to try and get into a rythm.

Ride 1 row in front of Nikki that should do it.

I am usually thinking "I can't let Amber catch me!"

In the rough sections I tell myself to "shift-up", "carry momentum" and "smooth is fast" but that's about it...unless I'm really screwing up then I tell myself lots of other stuff.

But...if everything is going well, I just ride...

The hardest thing in enduro for me is maintaining an agressive pace without pushing too hard. I've found that often times that slower is faster. I tend to beet myself up tring to haul. Mistakes are made that cost places at the end of the day. Enduro is still a mind game and it last all year long.

It is nearly always the same thoughts with me.
Usually "Oh crap" followed by "how did i end up under my bike".
