If you have any rule change suggestions you would like to have considered by the TSCEC Board and Club Representitives for the 2010 season please post them here.
Thanks

Back in January a post started where several guys said they would like to ride a vintage class.

Now would be the time to let the Board know if you were really serious! (even if your not serious but would ride that class for fun - post up)

BTW: I saw a guy behind us at Cycle Land on an 82 Honda XR200, Was kinda cool to see that. I'd commit to do it next year. Maybe a few of you that posted in January can commit too?

Then we might get a class for it.

Vintage Class…An 82 Honda is NOT a vintage bike. Not sure about TVRC, but both AHMRA and Evo-Sports organizations require a 1974 or older bike to be Vintage class legal. The Vintage National Cross-Country I raced in April was FUN, but was only an hour, just 4 laps on a 5-mile course. Well on a 74 Husky400 anything more than 20 miles of off-road or 6 laps of moto at Rio Bravo the fun stops really fast. I definitely wanted my modern bike. A suggestion is to lobby the remaining events to include a Vintage class to gauge interest.

Vintage is a matter of perspective, to me 1982 would definitely qualify (that was 27 years ago).

I am certain this topic was brought up a couple of times in the past few years. I remember that it was hard to find 5 riders who would commit to racing 60% of the series on a 'vintage' bike. Then it was hard to find enough agreement on what qualifies as a vintage bike. I believe in the end it came down to this...if I am going to drive 600 miles one way, spend who knows how much money on fuel, hotel, entry etc., why would I want to beat the crap out of myself on a 35 year old bike? I would rather take that new KTM and have much more fun. I would be interesting to see if enough folks are ready to try it out, BB

I agree with Brian, the new hi-tech bikes are hard to beat. I made a suggestion a long time ago when this same debate reared it's ugly head. If you have a vintage bike and you are proud of it, shine it up, bring it with you, and display it with the other v-bikes that might show up. It would be a vintage "Show" class and would be something to do on Saturday.
It would be very interesting to check out restored vintage bikes that were competitive in our sport some 35 to 40 years ago.
Let's not create any more TSCEC classes.

What about changing the Challenge Team Competition.
1. No drops or averages. (The way it was origionally set up)
2. Riders can be on only one team.
3. Count all events on the TSCEC schedule as one division. (For Team Challenge only)
4. Change Team Challenge classes to...
Gold Cup Team Challenge (All A & AA Riders)
Silver Cup Team Challenge (All B Riders)
Senior Cup Team Challenge (Sportsman, Masters, 40+SC, 45+SC, 50+SC, 55+SC, 60+SC Riders)
Novice Cup Team Challenge (Women, 16 & Under SW, 16 & Under LW, 0-200 C, 201-250 C, 251 & Up C, 30+ C Riders)

I'm all for clarifying the ground miles vs. course miles in the rulebook...tis confusing.

The Vintage class would be a cool idea , yet I have not witnessed a ground swell of attendance. I see few old bikes currently being ridden at the events.

We split the womens class up a few years ago and that was reversed the next year. The vintage class will need commitment and outside of a nostalgic few it ain"t got much support.

As for being a party Pooper, a party of 2 or 3 guys ain't much of a party.
