Every year we struggle with Challenge teams. They are not well supported and seems the same team wins all the divisions.

I suggest we do the following.

Eliminate the High Plains and Sabine Challenge teams. The Challenge Teams will be for Championship events only. No drops will be applied for any team member. A rider can only be on one team per year.

Eliminate the High Plains and Sabine Challenge teams.
I Agree

The Challenge Teams will be for Championship events only.
I Disagree. I think the Team Challenge should include all TSCEC sanctioned events.

No drops will be applied for any team member.
I Agree

A rider can only be on one team per year.
I agree

Also, I do not feel it is fair to include riders that have sucessfully competed on the long course in a Team Challenge for Novice Riders. The "C" Team Challenge should be for "C" Riders.
Age, Sportsman and Masters (SC & CX), should have their own team challenge.

So if you want it to be all Sanctioned TSCEC events, you want to lump Cloudcroft or a Colorado event in the mix for everybody? with no drops?

I think that will kill the challenge teams. I know of many on the east side that will never go to New Mexico or Colorado, just as I know many that will not go to the LA / arkanasas races.

You will not have to ride every event. Your team will just have to finish more events than your competition to win.

I see the point. It will end up being an award that rewards the traveller and will require someone to travel 4 states to even get a sniff at the trophy.

If the barrier to entry is that high then only a few will sign up. We only get about 5% of the memebership one all the teams. I'd calculate it but cannot find the participants of this years challenge on the site.

Other than Bill and I who else has an opinion?

Ok you ask for opinions! Why again is it nessessary for these changes?

Assuming it is being suggested based on the comment "quoted" above, then why not just limit each team to one division win, maybe limit a rider to one team in only one decalired division. Pick one and stick with it. That way you would be assured of different teams winning other divisions, and probably several more riders may sign up having a better shot at winning. Not same team over and over. I think killing off Sabine and High Plains will only lower team participation if they have to drive to all races to have a chance at placing.

OK my two cents again -

I think the rules should basically stay the same with one minor adjustment.

You should only be allowed to enter into two teams not multiple teams in the same classes for example it should only be:
1) a 3 man team with all members in your same class (AAA or BBB or CCC)
2) a 3 man team with all members in a different class (A,B,C)

I do agree with keep the teams points for all TSCEC sanctioned events. If Champship, High Plains, or Sabine points are awarded then you should get team points for that event - period.

I am re-reading my thread above and I didn't mean to end that thread sounding like I was mad. I am not in anyway. Just trying to make my point smile

David,
I think the team award should be about all three members finishing races. Not about 3 ex A riders smoking the C riders in 6 out of 8 events in a division. The sabine division seldom has a team earn points at an out of state event. Same with HP at a NM event. Making the team competition Circuit wide will not make it a travel award. It will just allow us to trim it down to 4 reasonable awards without leaving anyone out. If no teams score points in more than 60% to 70% of the events on the schedule then I don't believe there should be an award that year.
I think these changes will make it a more prestigious award, one worth working for.
Bill
