I need help, I have been looking for 77-91 solid axle Chevy
1-ton crewcab with a 454, np205 and a dana 60 front front end in halfway decent shape. Since that is not gonna happen, can I buy a reg cab truck with all the same hardware and swap to a crew cab 2wd of similiar year? Is it a bolt-up, or will there be some suprises? Is it worth the trouble. or should i keep looking?

Thanks for any help you can give.

honestly, the best thing to do is keep lookin. crew cabs have a longer frame, body mounts, axel position its a big head-ache. if you want achallenge go for it. i've done it and its easier to find what you want, try welding companis or any service company farms or ranches.even check the papers, thrifty nickel. craigslist or any off-roadforums.
