Does anyone remember the name of the old MX track that was right under the Rainbow bridge in Port Aurthur, Tx. It was on Pleasure Island back in late 70's early 80's....Was thinking it was -----hill, but don't really remember.

Can anyone help ?

i raced in port arthur in 72/73 and even have some super8 movies of the place but for the life of me i can't recall the name of the place. if memory serves me i'm pretty sure my movies include the sign with the name on it that we drove under when we entered the property. if i can ever find someone with a working projector mayby i will be able to help you out. dave f.

dave,

That is the place I'm talking about, you pulled in gate kinda uphill under sign. Me and my dad can't remember the name either and dad raced there too. If you ever get them movies running, I'd sure like to know the places name. I was a thinking it was something like Rose Hill MX or something, but don't really know

Thanks for the reply

Yeah, I went there to Texas Series race around 78-79. I think it was called Rose Hill.

Rose Hill was a different track in the area, that was not the one on pleasure island. My brother raced there in the 74-76 range I think. I know we have a picture of him pushing his TM100 across the finish line there.

The old track at Pleasure Island was called Pleasure Island MX Park. I raced there in the early 70s. It was to the left after you crossed the big bridge.

Yep, Pleasure Island Motocross Park. It was a fun place to ride in the early to late 70's.

Yes it was a good track to race at. It was owned by a man that wore a old mexican flat brim leather hat. Troy Brussard, Von Thomas, Brain Chisem, Tray Ewers, Chad Parker, Bob Waldron are some of its best riders of the early mid 70's.

one of my scariest memories of racing back in the day was when i came over a fast jump there and had the left side of my "newfangled" aluminum handle bars break off in mid air. i saved it but only by the grace of god. i went back to the oldfangled bars for years because of it. df
