It was very apparent from looking at the number of hits on the post requesting prayers for Frank that our members keep their AMSA family in their thoughts and prayers. I thought this post might be a good place for members to let us know when they need to be lifted up.

Here's a few members that I'm aware of...

Teri Chavira and family

David Cosner (age 16), Don's son has been diagnosed with a chronic illness called Wegener's. He has gone thru kemo which did not help and lately has gone thru a round of an experimental drug which seems to be helping a little.

Ashley Rankin (John and Amie Walker's daughter), Knee Surgery Recovery

Please keep our members on your prayer lists. If you have members to add, please post here.

In August Damon's dad underwent a double lung transplant for a disease know as Pulmonary Fibrosis. After initial great results from the surgery, he encountered problems with rejection and a bacterial infection in his abdomen. He was finally released from the hospital before Christmas. He then managed to claw his way back out though physical therapy to being active and back at work. Unfortunately, mid February he developed problems with Tuberculosis, side effects of medication, and Post-transplant Lymphoma. He has once again fought his way back out of the hospital, and is undergoing a hybrid antibiotic / chemo treatment for the Lymphoma. Please add Damon's dad to your prayer list. He's a very strong willed, spiritual man, and will not let this easily beat him.

Russell Machann our fellow STORM racer was hit in the eye with a golf ball on Monday. He saw light today so that's a good sign. The next 7 to 10 days are important for his recovery, please add him to your prayer list.

Friends and fellow STORM racers, Fred and April Allison need to be in everyone's thoughts and prayers. Last week April had a lemon-sized tumor removed from her brain. They have not received the results back from the biopsy.

Ace and I went to San Antonio today to spend a few hours with them. April is home and recovering amazingly well from her surgery. Lets pray that they receive good news on the biopsy.

Please twist the throttle on your prayers for April and Fred. The biopsy result was not what we wanted to hear, but we know she can get thru this.

They say there is nothing more grateful than to help someone you do not even know without thought of receiving anything in return. Here is a young person who could really benefit from you dropping him an email at the hospital. I know there are some of us who have fought through health issue's and won. This young person could use some positive mental support right now.

Pray for Leonard Morgan who was badly hurt at Boulder Creek yesterday after hitting a hidden stump in the trail. Leonard is in room 605 at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin. Leonard broke his sternum, back (C6 vertebrae) and has a concussion. His safety gear safey gear and helmet saved his life. They will operate on Leonard later this week.

Also, please pray for David Kerr, Jr., a member of the Dirt Bikers of San Antonio (DBSA). David had a mild heart attack yesterday at BC, at the gate. Luckily, the EMTs were already on site dealing with Leonards crash when they were able to get David attended to and transported to St.Davids Round Rock Medical Center, room 369.

Hang in there guys, we are pulling for full and speedy recoveries!

Please add Dr. Steven Beim to your prayers. He crashed hard on a jeep road at Cherokee Cycle Park this past Saturday, breaking his collarbone and several ribs, one of which collapsed his lung. I just spoke with his S.O. Brooks and she said he'll be fine...he is in surgery now looking at the collarbone. I plan to visit him a little later today when he's out of surgery (he's at Brackenridge).

Thanks,

She said he's in Intermediate Care, still with chest tube. Hadn't heard that before so wonder if she meant ICU. They hope to be in a regular room tomorrow.

Steve's out of surgery and hopefully on the mend now, with the help of a plate and some screws. Hopefully he'll be moved to a regular room tomorrow. He's still not sure how it happened...said it was very fast and all he remembers is the sound of his chest protector hitting the ground. He got his first ever helicopter ride straight to Brackenridge.

When I walked in I saw Chad two rooms over. On the way out they had already moved Chad to a regular room (839). I stopped by and said hello and he was in good spirits...even showed me a picture of his blown alcohol hydroplane boat he races.

My good friend and neighbor's son, Matthew Morris, was killed in action in Iraq last Sunday April 6th. He was scheduled to end his 4 year tour today, April 15th. His younger brother, Sam, is my son's age and they are good friends. A big neighborhood party was planned for his return this weekend. I have known Matthew since he was 13 years old. Good person, smart, happy, had allot going for him and a big future. However, he wanted to serve his country first and unfortunately paid the ultimate price.

Prayers for the Morris family.

For sure on John.

I spoke with Dr. Steve yesterday and he's doing well, back to work but very sore due to the broken ribs.

Anybody have an update on Leonard? Last update sounded good and I know he sure has a lot of people praying for him and his family.

I'll let someone who is "in the know" post on Leonard's health. But he looked great at Goertz a couple weekends ago - getting around, huggin on the ladies - they even put him to work throwing the start flags and waving the checkered. I'm sure he spent a week recouping after that from all the action. Great seeing you out racin Brenda!!!!

Speedy recovery to all -

Many of you may remember our club member, offroad rider/racer, and pro wrench at several of the local moto shops, Richard LaRiviere. Richard has found out that he has some inopperable brain tumors. Richard needs our thoughts, prayers, and support.

Folks, this is terrible news to share, and well worth many prayers for the Booth family. Many of us know John Booth from the STORM racing series and his gallant efforts and volunteerism, helping our off-road motorcycling sport. As difficult as it is to maintain a family, job, and share a motorcycling hobby, let alone volunteer to be president of such racing organization as STORM, often it's overwhelming. I'm sure John and family were already going through difficult times transitioning management of STORM and recently (Nov. 17th) his teenage son died. Obviously he and family don't want this at the top of TON forums, but I'm sure we can come together and pray for the booth family during these difficult times.

Personal feeling aside John has honorably stepped forward and been involved for a few years and most recently lead the Hare scramble series 2007-2008. We've likely all had run-in with Mr. Booth but the respect for him volunteering and leading is nothing but honorable, commendable, and respectful. I hope we can come together and send the family our sincere prayers and best wishes during these difficult times.

My our prayer be of comfort.

All, I just found out yesterday one of our members kids was brutally stabbed the first of the year. His name is Chase and his dad's name is Ray Luxton. Details are kind of sketchy right now but as far as I know he is back home and recovering. If I get more details I will post here, but at this point lets just pray for Chase's speedy recovery.

I spoke with Ray at length this morning and Chase is doing very well considering he was stabbed like 14 times, and hit with a hammer! The main concern was loss of blood and 2 cuts to his liver and artery damage in his shoulder. He is actually now back in school part time and has been bugging Ray to possibly soon get back on the bike.... Long term damage may not be significant, but Ray and family are taking a wait and see attitude... Keep sending positive vibes their way!

Update on Chase Luxton:
His dad said this on 2-16-09
"He is doing well. He is back to school full time. The doctor hasn't released him for any strenuous upper body activity yet. He is going to physical therapy and counseling. I let him start his bike yesterday and ride it around the back yard. I thought it might give him some incentive to keep working at the physical therapy."

I know they hope to be out for the next family day....

Again I ask for a few more prayers....

Tomorrow we say good bye to Ross Goodwin, my father in law.

Ross was one of us. He rode the enduros in the early '70s as member of the Capital Cats.

He shared his passion for riding with his daugthers, who still love to ride.

I'll miss him dearly.

God Speed Ross....

so sad,

thanks Larry and others for the thoughts & prayers!!!

surgery went well (L4/L5 and L5/S1 microdiscetomy) on Friday and I am hopefully on the mend. They told me day 2 & 3 would be the toughest, and boy was that an understatement!!! I should be back out n about in a week to so, but off a bike considerably longer.

Here is the memorial Website for Jeffrey Craig Robertson. He passed away after a tragic motorcycle accident at Crosscreek Cycle Park, Saturday, March 21, 2009. A few people have asked if I was there, knew him, or knew any more information.

Keep Clayton Walther in your prayers! He had a serious crash on the street riding his WR. He was on a rural road and a large dog ran in front of his front wheel, he hit the dog and lost control. Fortunately, the dog did not eat him, someone found him and called 911. They stabilized him and took him to the trauma unit.

He snapped his leg, broke both his right tib and fib below his knee, broke 2 ribs (1 displaced), broke his shoulder blade, and the big toe even though he was wearing steel toed boots. He now has a 11mm rod in his tib + screws. Other than that he is O.K. ...... except that he has to learn how to walk all over again.

Fortunately, he was wearing LOTS of protective riding gear including a full face helmet, otherwise he would no longer be with us.

Clayton, glad you are still with us. Hang in there and let us know if you need anything from your AMSA family?

Hey Doug. I'm alive and well and healing slowly. Its been 2 months since my street crash. I'm still on crutches and wheelchair. Healing a broken leg is slow given the seriousness of the injury. The Tib takes 4-6 months to heal according to my doctor. The ribs and shoulderblade are all good now. I'm hoping to get around alot better in November. The downside is I'll be missing out on some awesome fall riding but hopefully will be back on 2 wheels (off-road wise) next spring. Thanks for everyone's prayers and well wishes. They are working. See ya'll on the trail in 2013.

Just want to say that our thoughts and prayers go out to those in OK.

It was 1997 when a Cat 5 tornado hit out neighborhood after killing so many in Jerral Texas.

I so hate to think about and remember that it was 6 or 7 hours before I found out that Kyle and my wife who was pregnant with our daughter Katy at the time were still alive. Perhaps one of the longest 6 or 7 hours of my life. So with that memory in mind my heart and best wishes go out to all those affected by this tornado.

well...Johnny just texed me.

Say a prayer for Stuart Watson's Dad, he passed in his sleep yesterday.

You may remember, Mr Watson hosted several AMSA family days out at his place in Leander.

He was just recovering from a broken femur and ready to get back on his tractor.

God Speed

LINK

I was thinking about Frank the other day when talking to friends at a ride day.

Frank was one of those people that always treated me and my young (at the time)son Kyle like we were someone special. Never had a bad word to say about anything. I miss him.

The LINK takes us to Frank's memorial service. Sad day, but a great day if that makes any sense!?!?

AMSA and all of Frank's friends came out in huge numbers. Everyone brought their bikes and started them and rev'd them one last time in memory of Frank after the memorial service. Get's to me just thinking back to that day. I know I, as Frank, would be honored to be remembered that way.

Another great day in AMSA history!

Larry,

Thanks for posting again; I agree it was a special celebration of Frank's life and have thought back on it periodically as well.

Just a little note that our racing friend Paul Moses is having a bit of trouble with his prostate. Maybe if we all say a little prayer it might help.
They say that if I try, even an outlaw like me might be herd.

Good Luck Paul

Prayers needed... Mark Hyde is missing.

it appears that his truck was sweep off Spicewood Springs road.

He is one of the trail workers at our old lease in Milano. His picture was featured on much of the Cherokee Cycle park web site back in the day. Good rider and a hard worker.

The search resumes tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that Stu lost his cancer battle. Stu was always fun to be around, great sense of humor. Used to bang bars a lot years ago a lot, had blast at Terlingua back when they used to run the dual sport there. Condolences to the family, we are thinking about you.

Thoughts and prayers go out to Nathan Goertz and his family as his father passed away this morning. The Goertz family has been most gracious to AMSA and the dirt bike community for decades. They are like family to all of us! Many memories for me all the way back to the Rockne enduro. So sorry for Herman Goertz passing and his family.

Unfortunately we need to add Ace Burt to the list. A lot of you probably follow him on facebook, but those that don't...

This is a post from another rider.

Well that didn't go as planned....2nd class first moto end of the second lap was working a pass move on Ace going over the table before the finish line.... pretty close side by side when his bike died mid flight and front dropped out (slipped into neutral) he bailed way in the air and all hell broke loose on the backside of that jump...his bike and body was bouncing everywhere and I couldnt stop from hitting him.

That sent me and the rocket on our own destructive ride... when it was all over two bodies and two bike destroyed on the track and my body finished it's bike less journey at the top of the finish line tunnel jump.

Ace Burt took a life flight ... early reports from the hospital ... compound fracture of upper arm thru the skin, broken wrist , broken ribs collapsed lung, maybe broken leg...bad shit
