Can someone give me the real deal about the riding (dirtbike) at Barnwell. I've heard everything from it's the greatest place around to it sucks. I normally like to ride Red River, so compare it to that. I especially like the gnarly stuff and challenging hillclimbs. I read a review about Barnwell, even before it opened that there is a jeep road with 200' steep hillclimbs on either side. I live in the DFW area and hate to travel all that way to be let down. I've also looked on the website and read the brochures, but they don't say a lot.

Thanks

It's an iron ore mountain with @300 foot elevation changes. Rocky, ledges, 130 miles of trails on 1800 acres.
If you ride Motocross tracks...you won't like it.
If you like crosscountry and trails with a mix of sand, rocks, tight trees...you will like it.

BMRA has a little bit of everything and a lot of rocks. I can't compare to Munster but I've heard they have a lot of similarities (except river bottom).

There are plenty of challenging hill climbs, semi-tight ST along with quad and jeep trails to keep you busy for a long time. MC/ATV loop is 1 way with all other trails being 2 way. A very good place to stay in riding shape.

The National Enduro kind of messed up some sections of the MC loop but it's not a big deal to bypass.

Use the free maps in the office and refer to it often till you get familiar with the trails.

Avoid any deep ruts you may find.

I ride BMRA often and will be there in the morning. If you're coming out, look me up or PM me here. Grey 4X4 Chevy 1/2T parked at small pavilion (on left after passing office) w/ KTM 300.

I've ridden Muenster (Red River) and Barnwell many times. Barnwell is very different from Muenster, but it's a great place to ride. There's a long (30 miles?) single-track loop that goes around the park. Lots of elevation changes. There are fast trails, slow trails, awesome hill-climbs, and nice facilities (restrooms). They've held some races there (GNCC I think?). It's a nice alternative to Muenster.
