I'm really excited to anounce that the Trail Riders of Houston D/S ride we have all come to love and look forward to each year is back on for 2006....

The following is an excerpt from an email Burl Hughes sent out recently....

"The Terlingua ride is on for Nov 11/12 2006, as per the AMA magazine.

Steve Smith is Chairman of the ride this year.

We will post the flyer with all information on the TRH website at www.trh-cycle.org by July 15 at the latest.
We will mail out postcards instead of the flyer this year. You can print the flyer from our web site, cut off the entry form, fill it out and mail your check in to the address provided before the cut off date and of course get your friends to do the same . Steve Smith was gracious in stepping up to do this event --there aren't many people I know that can do a good job but Steve is up for it.
All questions should be directed to Steve Smith at his email address listed herein. Steve will be using the same format as in past years and bring some fresh ideas for future rides."

As far as Burl's health he added....

"I am doing OK and hope to make it out for the ride--I will just hang out if I can go. Thanks!!"

First, I really appreciate you stepping in to chair this event. This will be my first DS ride, I have been wanting to do this for some time now and am very much looking forward to this event. Second, because I have never ridden one of these in the past I have a question for you. The flyer states that we need to be able to go 60 miles on a tank of gas, I have inquired with a few TRH members about this and have been told that usually they haven't gone that far between gas stops in the past?? I will definitely make proper arrangements but wanted to verify this before spending any unnecessary money. Right now I believe my bike will make right at 60 miles (I plan on verifying that before Nov.) but I don't want to take any chances.

A friend and I have got our motel res.made and entrys sent off,our first dual sport ride,
can't wait,are in the process of getting bikes ready,hope to me you there--steve--and get
started riding again without the pressure of racing---hope its not too cold----rb.

If you don't want to spend the money for a larger gas tank, consider carrying 1 or 2 quarts of gas in those coleman fuel canisters you can buy at Academy. At least one so you have a clean container to borrow gas from someone on a KLR.

I'll look into that, it's a good idea. Was thinking about purchasing a rear fender auxilary tank, that would hold 1.6 gallons, that would eliminate any concerns about running out.
