Hello all, has anyone come across any good 4X4 trails in the Dallas/ Ft. Worth area? There was a small but fun place called Marshal Creek http://www.txmud.com/trails/ct/grapevine.html on the North end of Grapevine lake, however they quit letting the trucks in. It's all dirt bikes and ATVs now. I did find a trail between the Mills mall and the new Gaylord hotel that appears to be used by those trying to get to the lake to fish. It's no more than a mile in total, but at least it's something. Anyone else in this area got anything to mention?

Peace,
~Steve

Best place around is 360 & Trinity Blvd....not exactly legal, be careful when leaving especially at night. Every Sunday there's usually at least a dozen rigs wheelin or partyin down on the river.

Is the trail at 360 suitable for a beginner? I do not want to destroy my vehicle.

Hate to bring a dead thread to life but here it goes.

I just moved to Grapevine from Chicago and want to start 4wheelin again, but dont have a new truck yet (had a 1994 f150 and a buddy with a dodge ram on 38's) and was wonderin if i could tag along with someone while they do some local trails/mud bugs. I dont mind getting dirty so if you get stuck i'll gladly jump in and help dig.

I just want to get to know the area so when i do get a new truck i can go 4wheelin again.

If you're willing to let me tag along, send me a message/email/morse code.

The name is Erik btw

Don't get your hopes up on replies dean6824 and 03f1504X4...these forums seem dead...maybe I will piss some of the ppl that look but don't post off and things will get moving.. I don't want to go into serious stuff alone because 1 I have no winch and 2 if I break it would be nice to have a ride on hand or tow..same kinda things I would offer..this IS Texas after all...my buddy cooked his trans in his 4X4 Suburban, something about 5000lbs an a turbo350 with a fresh motor so he is dead(4 a bit), other bud in a B2600i 4X4 lost 5th and reverse..dunno whats up with that so I am stuck out solo right now...yall wanna go wheelin' just hit me up on the weekends with a PM..I check this site every other day atleast..dunno why..like I said..DEAD!!
PS wonder why it says "stranger" under my name...I TRY and get things rolling here ....................................................................................................................................................................................

At 1800 acres and 150 miles of trails, you'll love Barnwell. And there should be a lot that your Liberty can do ...and still pull the camper home.

If you don't mind going for a drive there is a nice offroad park near Gilmer, TX. They've had the national Jeep jam there several years back. Trails for newbs to pros. I took my rubicon from the dealer straight to there and had a blast.

Check out the tmtc forum at http://www.tmtc.net - from what i have read, the barnwell mtn area has a lot of drama. i was planning a trip, but i'll just stick with all the other parks around DFW. (and I dont think the lonestar jeep club approves of their policies) actually the park sort of "shuns" the jeep club on the barnwell mtn page.

http://www.texasmotorizedtrails.com
(click the barnwell mtn link)

I prefer drama free wheeling. I'll stick with clayton, ok or altus, ok (coppermines) or monkey creek, or copperascreek in bryson, general sam's, or any of the 12 or so parks for trucks/jeeps within a few hours of DFW. If you search hard enough and folow links from one page to the next you can come up with 5-10 parks in less than a minute. its easy to find other places to wheel instead of barnwell.

I have a Jeep 04 Liberty. basically stock. Would i make it in 360, 114 (where is 114) and bass pro? i've heard of bass pro but never taken it and 360 sounds like a bad idea.

Tolar texas has a new riding area for 4x4 wheeling, atv, side by side and motorcycles.
the 4x4 park is awesome with very steep and although currently unranked, very diffuclt trail all the way down to beginnger.

hey i wanted to know if the trail on 360 are fun to drive around and get muddy!? because i go to one on camp wisdom. off of I-20. i have been going there a lot and i get tired of it and want to try a new place out. i see that the 360 place has lots of interest and i want to try it out and see it. my friend and i went to the entrance off the high and there is lots of dead ends ( if you can post a google map pic of it that would be nice) thanks!

Trinity and 360 is fun but you're pretty much guaranteed trouble.... the cops all showed up when I was there because some 4wheeler guys were mouthing off to the landowner (Steel Mill) caretaker.... they let me roll out but asked me not to come back... they told me themselves there isnt really anywhere in DFW to go offroad

I know this may seem weird but anyone in the Dallas area wanna come help me wrench on my bronco to get it trail ready??? I just drove down from Alaska and all my old friends have moved away ( 6yrs in the Army was a long time ). Just wanted to know or meet some other cool offroaders that are as avid about our sport as I am. Up in Alaska all I did was trail ride if I wasnt working. Seems pretty dead on here for the most part but its worth a shot. I'm not really big into the whole mudding thing. I like to sling mud every once in a while but I got hooked on technical trails that are hard to maneuver in with a " Big Iron " as my friends called it. Maybe after the bronco is ready we could head to Tyler to hit that park I hear everyone talking about.
